Teaching

Where questions matter most.

I am passionate about engaging students in the classroom and the lab, emphasizing active
learning, real-world connections, and hands-on discovery. My approach shifts learning from
memorization to curiosity driven exploration, helping students understand not just scientific
facts, but the bigger questions of how science works and why it matters.

Current Course

BIO 113 – Introductory Microbiology for Health Professionals I currently teach Introductory Microbiology for Health Professionals, where students explore the fundamentals of microbiology with a focus on microbes relevant to human health, infectious diseases, and clinical practice.

Future Initiatives

I am working to bring the HHMI SEA-PHAGES program to Ball State University. This national program immerses undergraduate students in authentic research, giving them the opportunity to discover and characterize new bacteriophages while contributing to a global scientific community.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that learning is most powerful when it is interactive, inclusive, and connected to real-world problems. I incorporate case studies, active discussions, and research-based activities to inspire students to think like scientists. My goal is to foster critical thinking, teamwork, and curiosity, while creating a welcoming environment where every student can thrive.
